She's ten years old and changing every day. I look at her and she's so grown up. She is independent, strong, determined. She is almost as tall as Eva. Looking back though there are somethings that haven't changed.
She still has these beautiful blue eyes that melt your heart and bend your will.
She still has Baba. He's no longer with her everywhere we go, but he's still in her room, in a pile of her favorite stuffed animals. She's given up the two fingers too, but I think the callouses on her fingers may be there forever.
She is still motherly and caring. Her teachers say she is so kind and willing to help everybody. She has a tender heart that worries about others and notices when others are hurting. She is bothered by injustices and seeks to make all feel included.
She is still expressive, still hilarious and still a jokester.
She's still a great sleeper, still puts herself to bed early.
She still loves her sisters deeply,
but doesn't hesitate to yell at them or fight with them, especially in the car.
She's still likes to snuggle. She's just bigger and more bony.
Her laugh is still infectious.
And even though she's 10 now, she's still my sweet baby. She'll always be. I hope in the next many decades she continues to laugh easily, love deeply and find comfort in snuggles, even with old stuffed animals named baba.
Happy Birthday, MJ
Love you always
